For nearly 300 years, the Vesselle family has been tilling the chalky soils of Bouzy and cultivating some of the village’s best-placed Pinot Noir vines. A finely balanced, fresh wine, with flavors of brioche, wild strawberries and white pepper spice. A blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay.

In modern Champagne, any color that might bleed from the skins into the juice is usually filtered out, so the wine is clear. In this traditional style, Delphine Vesselle allows the ripe Pinot Noir grapes from her vineyards in Bouzy to bleed color from their skins, and doesn’t filter it out, hoping to preserve what she describes as the soul of Pinot Noir. The NV Brut Oeil de Perdrix is floral, resonant and super-expressive, the Oeil de Perdrix has so much to offer. The interplay of aromatic top notes and Bouzy richness makes for a compelling, open-knit Champagne that is an absolutely joy to taste.

#27 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2018 Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor. The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California's premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.

The iconic Minuty brand from the south of France's Mediterranean coast just outside of St. Tropez screams summertime! Light and bright in color. The nose has very intense aromas of orange peels and red currant. The wine in the mouth is smooth with a nice freshness. Blend: 50% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 20% Syrah, 10% Tibouren

Arneis is a grape variety that has a long history in Piedmont. Old documents testify its presence in 1200 after Christ, together with Nebbiolo. Our commitment is to express the tipicity of this variety and therefore enhance its unique aromas and flavours of white flowers, tropical fruits (pineapple, banana) and its softness and creaminess on the palate that make this wine enjoyable also when it is still young. This wine should be enjoyed in the first 3-4 years in order to appreciate its fresh aromatics however, it does age in bottle developing interesting aromas and flavors.

Gavalas Winery Assyrtiko hails from the magical, postcard picture perfect island of Santorini. Gavalas family winery, one of the oldest wineries in Santorini, lies in the traditional village of Megalochori. The purpose of the family is to highlight the particular characteristics of Santorini’s “terroir”. The fourth generation winemaker is George Gavalas and the fifth is his son, Vagelis. This 100% Assyrtiko has aromas of citrus, lemon, pear and peach accompany the typical saltiness and minerality of Assyrtiko. Full body with high acidity and long aftertaste.

A wine that smiles and makes you smile! It is stylistically close to Pouilly-Fuissé, with its golden hue, its greenish reflection and its refreshing taste. The aromas are reminiscent of the ripe Chardonnay grape, with subtle notes of musk. A pleasant roundness coats the palate.

The Kerner grape is a cross between Schiava (Vernatsch) and Riesling. The south-east facing vineyards at 800 meters above sea level are ideal for the cool climate grape variety. Due to the high temperature difference between day and night, the grapes retain their firm acidity and develop intense fruit and flower aromas of yellow peach and lilac during the long ripening period. The Kerner Selection owes its pleasant minerality to the calcareous, gravelly-loamy dolomite soil. The firm acidity supports the minerality on the palate and ends in a long, juicy finish. This has a subdued aromas suggesting wild herb, beeswax and citrus. On the rounded palate, fresh acidity accompanies ripe yellow apple and honeyed notes.

What happens when one of the most talented new world Pinot Noir winemakers in America adds a Riesling to his repertoire? Come to Hillside Tavern and give it a swirl. The Manousakis Nostos Vidiano hails from the magical island of Crete. Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and the 5th largest island in the Mediterranean. Manousakis Winery is a family-owned organic boutique winery located on the western side of Crete approximately 30 minutes west of Chania. This expression of Vidiano is bright with intense lemon-green color with slow and rich legs. Nose with moderate to high intensity. Ripe stone fruits, honeycomb, dried flowers. Dense, medium bodied and complex mouth with intense flavor of white stone fruit. Long finish dominated by mineral, stone fruits, and citrus.

CastelGiocondo has an intense, bright ruby-red color. Like every vintage, 2017 brought with it a wonderfully elegant quality. The bouquet features fruity aromas, particularly at the beginning, with notes of raspberry, blackcurrant and even pomegranate. The beautifully harmonious and alluring hints of violet and rose are truly wonderful. Gradually, its maturity becomes truly remarkable, revealing spiced hints of white pepper, clove and star anise, toasted notes and more complex roasted notes and hints of licorice. On the palate, the tannic structure is dense and the mineral quality is wonderful. Totally captivating. 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The Frescobaldi 2017 Brunello di Montalcino CastelGiocondo is one of those wines that has seen slight tweaks and stylistic changes over the past 10 years, going from an abundant, large-scale generic Tuscan red to a more subdued and authentic interpretation of the cool Montalcino territory. I'd say that the transition has been smooth and not obvious, unless you were especially attentive. Despite the hot-vintage character of this sample, the wine freely dispenses of wild berry, crushed stone and red rose aromas. This is an ambitious production of 300,000 bottles. 93 points James Suckling Dark-cherry and walnut aromas with some dried flowers . Cedar comes through as well. This wine exudes traditional spicy aromatic characteristics of Cabernet Franc that is full of complex fruit flavors with soft tannins and freshness which begin with the aroma and then linger on the finish.

This small, inaugural release is produced from several prime terroirs of California. BACKGROUND: This wine stems from excitement over California’s diverse vineyard land, often in lesser-known areas, that can produce exceptional Cabernet. SOURCING: We search for sites with climatic conditions, soils and topography ideally suited to Cabernet – places from Paso Robles to lesser-known areas in Lake, San Benito and Monterey Counties. STYLE: With ripe fruit and luxurious tannins, this wine reveals the Caymus character, and is drinkable upon release or with age.

Blended from the traditional Bordeaux varietals, this wine builds on 5 decades of crafting great Napa County mountain-grown wines. Dark and spicy, this wine displays beautiful aromas of currant, cassis, sage and thyme, as well as hints of cinnamon and clove from barrel aging. On the palate, balanced tannins, ripe berry flavors, layers of cola and grenadine. Wine Enthusiast 90 Points: This well-made blend leads with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, adding in 33% Merlot and smaller amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The 2019 Ehlers Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a luscious wine and a great representation of the Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from our Estate vineyard dominate the blend, accompanied by Cabernet Sauvignon from carefully selected Howell Mountain and Napa vineyard sites. Deep purple, concentrated aromas of blackberries, mineral notes of graphite and smashed rocks, cedar, tobacco leaf, cassis, and dry herbs spice mix. Ample mouth feel, full-body, with firm tannins and great acid structure, that helps accentuate the flavors of berry compote, spices, and oak flavors like mocha. Very long finish. Aromas of black cherries wrapped in a spice box of nutmeg, clove, and allspice jump from the glass. Its vivid fruit tones and classical balance make this Cabernet Franc-rich blend a promising candidate for sustained bottle age. Anyone who has tasted the great wines this estate produced in the 1950's and 1960's knows how great this site can be; and with stricter selection as well as the elimination of fruit from vines growing on the plain from the blend, that potential appears to be being unleashed at last. 94 points Wine Spectator - This rolls out dense fig, boysenberry and red currant paste flavors laced with pronounced chalky minerality and notes of tobacco, dried anise and juniper. The serious tannic drive on the finish puts this in the 'classically austere' camp. Worth cellaring for sure, but patience is required.

A classic style Barolo. Excellent structure, harmony and elegance. Soft tannins and balanced fruit. Approachable, but with a very long aging potential. Barolo is a great wine, which should not be described as a “basic” or “regular” Barolo, simply because it does not have any additional indication on the label. Critical Acclaim 94 points James Suckling: Aromas of spicy red cherries on a loamy underlay, together with savory twists of forest floor and walnut shell. Some orange rind, too. Full-bodied with very fine, firm and silky tannins and lots of long, focused fruit and spice flavor. 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2018 Barolo opens to ripe aromas of dried plum and tobacco. This vintage lacks some of the complexity of a cooler growing season, but these results are far from monochromatic. Those tobacco aromas cede to cedar, earth, forest floor and hints of shaved truffle.

Bitouzet is an iconic Burgundy producer. A committed classicist, he has provided us with over thirty-years worth of structured, demanding, age-worthy, satisfying wines, from the heart of the Cote de Beaune. This domaine is a tried and true standard bearer for all that is fundamentally good and sound in Burgundy: conscientious and sensitive work in the vineyards, respect above all for the specific character of each lieu-dit, patience and attention to detail in the cellar, and a commitment to producing wines of depth and, of critical importance, longevity. This Aussy 1er cru vineyard site sits just below En Champans on the slope; half was planted in 1948, and the other half in 1998 so boasts beautiful concentration from these old vines. With its pretty spice element, elegant floral notes, and taut red fruits, this cuvée offers a supple, silken texture and subdued tannins—a quintessential Volnay, and the most open and approachable of François’s premier crus. On top of that – 2018 many have been overlooked for being a riper vintage, but it means this wine is absolutely singing now and does not require decanting or cellar time.

This wine honors the unique spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Brimming with fresh blackberry and plum aromas this wine gains earth and herb nuances with time. Ripe red plums and red cherries dominate the smooth palate.

From a cold, steep site located near the Pacific Ocean, Jack Hill is fleshy, spicy and integrated, brimming promisingly with a wealth of dark cherry, strawberry and blood orange. A tease of cola and cardamom give it a powerful middle of nuanced richness around a body of firm integrated tannin.

“Along with its neighbors Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet is viewed today as one of white Burgundy’s “big three”—a world-famous village synonymous with layered, mineral-driven, age-worthy Chardonnay. However, a peek into even the relatively recent past reveals that Chassagne-Montrachet was more renowned for red wine for most of its viticultural history. According to our friend Sylvain Morey, Chassagne-Montrachet was planted two-thirds to Pinot Noir and one-third to Chardonnay up through the late 1970s, when a shift began to occur; by the mid-1990s, plantings were roughly equivalent; and today, Chardonnay outnumbers Pinot Noir 75% to 25% and gains ground with each passing year. Winemaker Notes Chassagne’s unabashed soil-driven nature shines through clearly but elegantly in this wine; one would have to spend much more in the Côte de Nuits to find something even approaching it.

Bright cherry and raspberry aromas complement notes of cinnamon and delicate violet, while the palate strikes a balance between juicy plum and boysenberry and complex, earthy cola and leather, finishing with chalky tannins and hints of crème brulée.

Sarrazin's "Champ Lalot" in 2019 delivers deep complexity, dark plush fruit, compact minerality, a combination that feels as if it were from one of the Premier Cru of the Cote d'Or. There is a marvelous richness texture and richness on the palate that will keep Burgundy lovers occupied for hours on end.

93 Points Robert Parker: The 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from 100% estate fruit this vintage. Pale to medium ruby-purple, the nose is broody with iron, iodine, forest floor and blood orange with cranberry and blackberry fruit. Light to medium-bodied, it's ultra silky and a maintains a nice balance of ripe fruit, bitters and earth, with classic tea leaf and citrus peel flavors and a long, juicy, uplifted finish.

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2017 Alesia Pinot Noir Anderson Valley is pale to medium ruby-purple with a pretty nose of autumn leaves, bark and cinnamon stick with black cherries, blackberries, raspberry preserves and woodsmoke. Winemaker Notes: Each year, the goal for the Southing is to create the ideal marriage of complexity and elegance. The ever-changing nose of the Southing exhibits Montmorency cherry, sage, hibiscus and subtle baking spices. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity. Winemaker Notes: A brooding and intense wine. The aromas begin with notes of ground cacao, raspberry and Friar plum, followed by a mix of spices and a hint of lavender. Firm, mature tannins, evidence of Ten's ageability, are followed by a long, velvety finish. Montenidoli, the mountain of the little nests: 24 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 200 hectares of woodlands. The Etruscans were the first to discover this treasure and plant vines, then came the Romans and the Knights Templar. The Montenidoli winery arrived in 1965, heirs to a long farming tradition. Sergio was a teacher, whereas Elisabetta had the land in her blood; her family had cultivated vines and olive trees in Custozza, not far from Verona, since the 1700s, and, as a child, she had spent a lot of time wandering the vineyards of Valpolicella. Following family traditions, Elisabetta and Sergio respect the land, cultivating it with exclusively organic methods. The vineyards multiplied, planted with indigenous varietals: Sangiovese blend with Vernaccia, san Gimignano's historic white grape, ,Canaiolo, Trebbiano Gentile, and Malvasia Bianca -- The traditional grapes of Chianti. The first wine was born in a great vintage - 1971.

94 Points Jeb Dunnuck:Always a kitchen sink blend, the 2017 Todos checks in as 44% Syrah, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petite Sirah, and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. It's always a smoking value, and while I wasn't able to get a suggested retail price, I don't expect that to change. Certainly, the quality is top-notch. Blackberries, smoked plums, graphite, ground pepper, and crushed rock-like minerality all emerge from this beautifully balanced, elegant, yet concentrated and fleshy red that has the class, as well as the structure, to keep for over a decade. It should be even better this time next year. Rating: 94+

Alain Graillot is well known to wine lovers throughout the world and is universally regarded as one of the most talented producers not only in the Rhône but in the whole of France. What is extraordinary is that he has built his reputation and fame in just 15 short years and in an appellation that was until recently seriously despised by the cognoscenti. The quality of Graillot wines is now legendary and he has become the father-figure to a whole new generation of young Rhône producers. And if appellations such as Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph now offer some of the best wine values in the Rhône it is in no little part thanks to Alain's groundbreaking work. WINE DESCRIPTION: Expressive bright red and dark berry, smoked meat, olive and floral qualities on the spice-accented nose. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering gently sweet cherry-cola, blackberry and baking spice flavors that show fine detail and a mineral, back-end lift. Finishes very long and subtly chewy, with repeating smokiness, harmonious tannins and strong persistence.

The winemaker, Yannick Rousseau, is a favorite of ours and we have done several wine dinners with him at Rapscallion. Amazing guy, and maker of the best Tannat wines in California! Generous, bright, robust, complex, and well-structured. On the nose, ripe blueberries and violet flower along with additional savory notes of black olives and cured meats. The palate is voluptuous, fresh, juicy with silky tannins, and a long finish. This is a GREAT WINE TO PAIR WITH BURGERS!

Yannick Rousseau is a son of a butcher! Yannick's father was a butcher that hailed from a small town in Gascony located in southwestern France. SOB is an unmistakable California resident...rich and juicy with a youthful vibe. This blend of Tannat and Bordeaux varietals never forgets its french roots or that certain "je ne sais quoi."

Winemaker Notes: The largest single component comes from the old vines at Bedrock Vineyard, followed by the perfumed goodness of Esola Vineyard, the softer but fresh Schmiedt Vineyard, and the peppery, dark-fruited Nervo Ranch Vineyard. As usual, almost all of the wine consists of declassified barrels from vineyard-designated wines, so it offers serious bang for the buck. 85% Zinfandel with the balance a blend of Carignan, Mataro, Grenache, and Alicante Bouschet, along with esoteric creatures like Aubun, Abouriou, and many more. Day is the Zinfandel project of Ehren Jordan, the winemaker behind such amazing labels as Turley, Neyers, and Failla. When he purchased a St. Helena property back in 2004, he knew he wanted to plant grapes on the hillside. After a few years of pondering, he decided that the locale was ideal for one of his early loves in the vine world - Zinfandel. Ehren established his reputation as a talented vigneron during his tenure at Turley and Day is a return to those roots. Named for the old grist mill that was found on the property, Grist sits pretty at 1000 ft. elevation on Bradford Mountain in the Dry Creek Valley AVA. The site was originally planted 100 years ago, and has since been replanted in the early 1970s. Farming here is Organic. The iron rich, red volcanic Boomer Loam soil results in low yields and concentrated wines.

Introduced in 1982, Marietta utilizes old vine fruit in a multi-vintage blend to make a wine of substance and value. Lot #69 combines the 2015, 2016, and 2017 vintage. This is a classic old-fashioned California table red. This is a Zinfandel-based red with Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Barbera, and Carignan.

Though the vast majority of Turley's wines are single vineyard designates, Juvenile is actually composed of a variety of young vines that have been replanted in several of their old vine sites. They tag the vine when it is replanted so as not to mix the brand new vine with its much older neighbors, then pick these young vines separately and make a distinct wine. The vines that make up Juvenile range in age from about 6-25 years, and Turley pulls from 18 of their best vineyards across California, including Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, Vineyard 101, Fredericks and Kirschenmann.

This sparkling wine—one of the flagship Crémants d’Alsace—is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grown on terroirs favourable to the sole Alsatian red grape variety. With a beautiful brilliant pink colour, it exhibits a nose of predominantly red fruit aromas, has fine and light bubbles and a very pleasant roundness on the palate.

This lovely rose is primarily Sangiovese blended with Pinot Noir and small amounts of Grenache, Black Muscat and Carignan.

Zumo is a thrilling new hop from the folks at Segal Ranch, named after a Spanish term for citrus zest. Its vibrant lime characteristic hooked us immediately, and it was time for us to do a little experimentation of our own. We found out that Mosaic hops, when taking a backseat in the recipe for once, truly elevated Zumo’s flavor to monstrous levels of refreshing zestiness. Now we’re certified Zumologists.

1942 is a complex añejo tequila, aged at least 2.5 years in American oak, longer than most añejos. Floral, candy, & fruit notes accompany the grassy agave, oak, & brown sugar flavors. 1942 has won too many awards to list, but here are 2 of the most recent: Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition & named a Top Trending Tequila at the 2020 Drinks International awards.

Clase Azul is aged for 8 months in American whiskey casks imparting unique hazelnut & vanilla flavors as well as its exceptionally smooth finish. Clase Azul's incredible Reposado has been awarded Gold medals by the Beverage Testing Institute & the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

A fabulously sherried single malt from Glengoyne, matured predominantly in first fill European oak sherry casks for 21 long years. Its time in the cask has bestowed upon it lovely rich fruity notes with an exceptionally long finish. This fantastic whisky was winner of a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2018. Impressive stuff.

Macallan 12 Year is a classic sherry-cask-matured Highland that makes a very good gateway into the single malt category. Flavors of fruitcake, warmed bread, soaked raisins, & clove lead to a warm, medium to long finish noted with pear, cigar, & peppery clove notes.

Orphan Barrel’s 2020 release is Muckety-Muck, a 24-year-old single grain Scotch whisky from the shuttered Port Dundas distillery. It’s the second release whose origins come a closed Scottish distillery. Last year saw Forager’s Keep, a 26-year-old single malt from Pittyvaich. For years, the series almost exclusively featured old Kentucky bourbon. I’m glad to see the brand, owned by Diageo, explore its expansive library of aging whiskies in Scotland. Single grain means the whisky comes from one distillery and was distilled from a cereal grain. Whereas malt whiskies are distilled using pot stills, grain whiskies are typically distilled using column stills. Established in 1810, Port Dundas was at one time the largest distillery in Scotland. Production stopped and the distillery was demolished in 2011. Older single grain whiskies can be dreamy, and this bottling is no exception. Soft top notes of vanilla and butterscotch mingle with ripe orchard fruits on the nose. The palate mostly follows suit, sprinkling in some baking spices and lemon rind. The whisky reveals a touch of rancio on the back palate, a sign of its age. The medium length finish is warming with lingering semi-sweet notes.

This splash of heaven is so rare as to be almost impoosible to get. The Yamazaki Whisky is Suntory's flagship single malt whisky, from Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery. This whisky contains carefully blended components aged in American, Spanish, and Japanese Mizunara oak. The production of Yamazaki 12 Year combines age-old techniques with modern innovation results in what is considered by many to be a high-caliber take on whiskey. With its average price tag per bottle sitting in the triple digits, this is one spirit that is meant to be savored. Yamazaki 12 Year is a prestigious whisky with a cadre of fans across the globe. It's also the recipient of numerous whisky awards. Its accolades include winning Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2003 and 2010, and Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013, as well as several other awards.

Situated at the base of Mt. Fuji, only 7.5 miles from its peak, the Fuji Distillery (https://fujiwhisky.com/) has been making whisky in the shadow of Japan’s most famous mountain since 1973. Despite that, their first US release came only in 2021. This is extremely limited. In point of fact, Hillside Tavern was allocated only 1 bottle! This release of Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey is a blend of Fuji’s three in-house grain whiskies and is bottled at 46% ABV. It was created to highlight both the similarities and differences of different grain whiskies from around the world, with a Japanese flair. The fruity notes are present with apple and pear coming out again, vanilla and some grain notes in the back. It tastes less ‘bourbon-y’ then the nose suggests, yet can still be described as a lighter feeling and tasting style of bourbon. The finish is nice and long, morphing to orange and chocolate. With water, the aroma is more pleasing as the water pushes the grain notes back and pulls the fruity notes forward. If you’re a bourbon drinker looking to try something new, this may be what you’re looking for. It just might win you over with its complex yet lighter bourbon-like qualities. Come get you some, cause when i t’s gone, it’s truly gone!

Sustainably harvested off our 500-acre farm, the wood has more rings than the standard American oak used in whiskey barrels, imparting more flavor during oak-aging. Redbreast is proudly considered the ultimate expression of this Single Pot Still art.Each pot still whiskey is made with a mash bill of a mix of malted and unmalted barley from farms in the Munster region surrounding our distillery. The soft, clear water we use at Midleton Distillery comes from the Dungourney River, which flows through the lush green hills of neighboring Clonmult. Nose: Full and rich with a complex, balanced mix of berry fruits and aromatic oils. Taste: Well-balanced and mellow, combining the succulence of fleshy fruit with spices and toasted wood. Finish: Long and sophisticated.

Introducing Teeling Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Virgin Portuguese Oak Finish, the newest in a series that was named "World's Best Pot Still" at the 2022 World Whiskies Awards. Crafted to explore the full spectrum of flavours that Irish Whiskey can offer, this limited-edition bottling – the second release of the series – features a unique cask maturation and is bottled at 50% ABV to ensure the whiskey's true character is retained. Produced at Dublin's first new distillery in 125 years, this release in the Wonders of Wood series has a mash bill of 50% malted barley and 50% unmalted barley and is finished in Virgin Portuguese Oak, a wood with a higher tannin content than other oaks typically used to age whiskey. The result is a truly unique Irish Whiskey with savoury marmalade flavour and warming hints of tobacco. Only a limited number of bottles of this whiskey have been produced.
