Dry, crisp, and refreshing light-bodied wine that balances elegance and sophistication with refreshing acidity, and aromas of pink grapefruit, watermelon, fresh strawberry, and pear blossom.
Pinot Noir, Gérard Bertrand 'An 825' Crémant de Limoux Brut Rosé France NV
Beautiful, salmon-pink color. Complext bouquet with aromas of strawberry and raspberry backed with hints of toasted bread. Delicate bubbles and an extraordinary vivacity on the palate.
White Wine Glasses
Assyrtiko, Wine Art Estate Plano Drama Greece '21
Plano Assyrtiko offers mineral austerity with the iodine aromas of the sea. Its lemony, salty character evokes childhood memories, when as children we were bringing a handful of wet pebbles near our nose to enjoy their sea breeze. The grapes come from a single vineyard in Kali Vrisi, on the eastern slopes of Mount Menoikio. The label featuring a protractor and the name ‘Plano’, ‘Plan’ in Greek, remind us of the two founders of the Estate, civil engineer Giannis Papadopoulos and architect engineer Giannis Kalaitzidis.
Chardonnay, Chalone Vineyard Chalone Appellation Paso Robles CA '20
The golden-hued 2020 Chardonnay opens with lemon curd and mandarin orange with hints of toasted brioche. These characters carry through to the honeyed, full mid-palate where classic Chalone wet rock minerality provides a lifted, elegant finish.
Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Mauzac, and Muscat Blend, Gérard Bertrand Orange Gold France '20
Orange Gold pays tribute to the first orange wine of Georgia from 4,500 years ago. This ancestral winemaking technique uses white grapes that are vinified and fermented in whole bunches, like red wines. This maceration with the stalks an skins brings a remarkable orange color. It is an exceptional blend of 7 grape varieties. It is organic and vegan. The nose explodes with notes of white flowers, candied fruit, and white pepper. On the palate it is fresh and beautifully balanced. We hope you enjoy this wine as much as we do!
Muscadet, Domaine de la Grenaudiere Loire Valley France '20
Lemon-bright, sea-kissed and bone dry, Muscadet is the vinous child of the cool Atlantic and the Loire’s river plains, a grape that screams of the sea and promises easy pleasure. Melon de Bourgogne, the vibrant grape that makes Muscadet, is the life-blood of the Ollivier winemaking family, as they’ve been crafting wines at the meeting of the Sèvre and Maine rivers on France’s Atlantic coast since the eighteenth century.
Picpoul de Pinet, Gérard Bertrand "An 1618" France '20
Perfect Summer sipper! The limestone terroir bordering the Mediterranean Sea creates this dry white wine. Fresh and tasty with lovely citrus highlights.
Sauvignon Blanc, Domaine Firmin Dezat Sancerre France '21
The Dezat family produce some of the best Sancerres that we have tasted. Clean, crisp, and focused. It has a delicate bouquet and great length. Perfect antidote for the hot temperatures.
Pinot Grigio, Scarpetta Friuli-Venezia Giulia Italy '20
Scarpetta Pinot Grigio showcases some of the best sites in Friuli-Venezia Giulia for this aromatic varietal — starting with the light, gravely soils of the Grave region. This gives it a crisp, clean minerality. Additionally, 30% of their Pinot Grigio is planted on "Ponca" soil in the Colli Orientali on steep hillsides. The combination of the Grave and Colli Orientali lets them produce a wine which has body, bright acidity, and great minerality.
Red Wine Glasses
Cabernet Sauvignon, Daou Paso Robles Central Coast CA '21
Opens with aromas of cherry liqueur, ripe plum, strawberry compote and fresh leather. The palate offers cherry kirsch, strawberry preserves, and warm spice. Soft plush tannins and well-balanced acidity lead to an elegant, oak, tinged finish.
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre (GSM), Rive Droite Rive Gauche Côtes-du-Rhone France '20
A stunning, fruit-packed wine with easy charm. The name was conjured up because this wine is sourced from both banks of the Rhône, with the grenache coming mainly from the left and the syrah from the village of Daumazan, near the Pont du Gard. This is a medium bodied rendition with a pure core of raspberry, wild strawberry and splash of black berry fruit in the mix. Its lithe with a lovely fresh cut to the sweet fruits that makes this look wonderfully elegant and damn easy to like.
Pinot Noir, Banshee Wines Sonoma County CA '19
An exciting, yet friendly wine, bursting at the seams with aromas of macerated tart cherries, pomegranate and notes of earth of pine. The flavors combine both sweet and tart with a fruit driven front palate and very subtle oak influence.
Syrah, Copain Tous Ensemble Mendocino County CA '18
Soft, friendly yet elegant and vivacious. Flavors of blueberry, anise and black cherry come forth. On the palate the wine is bright, but not too tight. An explosive entry and a plush finish make this wine perfect for pairing with one of our delicious burgers.
Tempranillo, Cune Crianza Rioja Spain '17
Aromas of wild fruits, licorice together with vanillas, toffees and cocoa from the American oak barrels. Soft entrance in mouth with rounded tannins and a slightly acidic end which leads to a long and fruity aftertaste. This wine is easy to drink, fresh and perfect for pairing with any of our sandwiches or burgers. PS - also, delicious on its own! Critical Acclaim: 92 points James Suckling, 92 points Wine & Spirits, and 91 points Wine Spectator.
Champagne & Sparkling
Champagne Drappier Carte d'Or Brut Urville France
92 Points Wine Spectator: This bright and zesty Champagne is lightly juicy and appealing, offering flavors of Honeycrisp apple, ripe white cherry, biscuit and pickled ginger. Balanced and lacy in texture, with a lingering, spiced finish. From the winemaker: The Carte d'Or cuvée is the very expression of the Drappier style. With its very high proportion of Pinot Noir, one is almost tasting a Blanc de Noirs. Champagne with a fine aromatic richness, it opens with aromas of stoned fruits such as white vineyard peach. A spicy hint announces a powerful complex palate. A vinous Champagne of lovely complexity with a characteristic note of quince jelly.
Chateau de Bligny Grand Reserve Brut France
100% estate produced. A deep golden robe underlined by a line of fine sparkling bubbles. A substantial, flowery (violet) nose, notes of white fruit, very ripe pear, creamy, slightly woody, mushrooms. A fine, dense structure, white fruit (peach, nectarine), gingerbread. An ample mouth and a wonderful length. 50% Chardonnay / 50% Pinot Noir. Critical Acclaim: Wine Spectator 90 points.
Domaine Jean Vesselle 'Oeil de Perdrix' Bouzy, France
In modern Champagne, any color that might bleed from the skins into the juice is usually filtered out, so the wine is clear. In this traditional style, Delphine Vesselle allows the ripe Pinot Noir grapes from her vineyards in Bouzy to bleed color from their skins, and doesn’t filter it out, hoping to preserve what she describes as the soul of Pinot Noir. The NV Brut Oeil de Perdrix is floral, resonant and super-expressive, the Oeil de Perdrix has so much to offer. The interplay of aromatic top notes and Bouzy richness makes for a compelling, open-knit Champagne that is an absolutely joy to taste.
Roederer Estate Brut NV Anderson Valley California
#27 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2018 Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor. The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California's premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.
Gérard Bertrand An 825 Crémant de Limoux Brut
Gérard Bertrand reveals the history of the great terroirs of the South of France. The first written trace of the Abbey of St. Hilaire date back to 825. The Abbey is located near Limoux and is famous for having housed the monks who discovered the secret of effervescent wines. This fresh sparkler is a beautiful, golden color. Complex aromatic nose revealing hints of white flower, with hints of hone, green apple and toast. Crisp and elegant.
Daou, Paso Robles '20
This grenache dry rosé is faithful in style and spirit to the beautiful sun-soaked Méthode Provençale rosés from the south of France.
Gerard Bertrand, Gris Blanc '20
Pale pink color. The bouquet reveals delightful red berry scents. A slightly sparkle on the palate gives the wine all its freshness and brings out the full fruit. Elegant and mineral notes. Made with Grenache.
Mas De Gourgonnier, Les Baux de Provence, France '20
Certified Organic. 60% Grenache, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Mourvèdre. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. All this wine needs is a patio and sunshine.
Domaine Drouhin Pouilly-Vinzelles '17
Brooks, Bradley, and Nate had the great life fortune to visit Domaine Drouhin in Beaune, Burgundy a few years back, and this is the exact wine Véronique Drouhin served us at lunch! Lightly oaked, crisp acidity, delicious!
Jordan Russian River Valley '19
A nice balance of delicacy and deliciousness. Inviting aromas of honeysuckle and lemon peel lead to bright flavors of stone fruits and citrus. The palate is elegant yet succulent, with layers of oak-laced lemon, pears, quince, and white peach - all supported by uplifting acidity. Critical acclaim - 93 points Wilfred Wong and 90 points Wine Enthusiast.
Liquid Farms 'Golden Slope' Santa Rita Hills '16
94 points Vinous The 2016 Chardonnay Golden Slope shows the more potent, rich side of the Sta. Rita Hills. Candied orange peel, mint, hazelnut, vanilla and tropical overtones give the wine breadth. The Golden Slope is the most overt and voluptuous of the Liquid Farm Chardonnays.
Rombauer Vineyards, Carneros, California '20
Pale yellow with a green tinge to the hue. Aromas of yellow peach, mango with a slight citrus note intertwine with vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and round with cream texture, vanilla, and butter combine seamlessly. Critical Acclaim: 90 points Wilfred Wong, 90 points James Suckling.
Laurenz 'Singing', Austria '20
An attractive fruit bouquet yields apple, peach, and citrus aromas along with a typical Veltliner spiciness and a touch of white pepper. The soft and juicy palate is supported by fine acidity.
Cantina Kurtatsch, Sudtirol, Alto Adige Italy '19
This is a unique white infused with Alpine freshness and lift that Alto Adige wines are best known for. A cross of the red grape Schiava and Riesling, Kerner offers a delicious floral perfume, redolent of lilac and honeysuckle, with peachy fruit and a kiss of white pepper at the finish.
Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, and Petit Courbu
Domaine Castera Tauzy Jurançon Sec France '19
The winery is located between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean in Jurançon, France. The Lihour family acquired this property in 1885. The vineyard is in the process of being certified for organic farming. This wine is rich and powerful coupled with uplifting acidity that will brighten your day. Simply delicious. Give it a swirl.
Domaine Delaporte Sancerre '20
A longtime favorite at Boulevardier where we have carried this wine for many, many years. Pale gold with green hints. Very expressive, intense and complex nose with boxwood, rhubarb, black currant, kiwi, and a light vegetal touch (marigold). The entry is soft and round. Bright freshness on the palate, delicate and lively purity. Well-balanced and harmonious, it ends with a clean lingering finish.
Smith Story, Sonoma, California '16
This wine exudes traditional spicy aromatic characteristics of Cabernet Franc that is full of complex fruit flavors with soft tannins and freshness which begin with the aroma and then linger on the finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon & Blends
Chappellet, Mountain Cuvée, Napa Valley, CA '20
Blended from the traditional Bordeaux varietals, this wine builds on 5 decades of crafting great Napa County mountain-grown wines. Dark and spicy, this wine displays beautiful aromas of currant, cassis, sage and thyme, as well as hints of cinnamon and clove from barrel aging. On the palate, balanced tannins, ripe berry flavors, layers of cola and grenadine. Wine Enthusiast 90 Points: This well-made blend leads with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, adding in 33% Merlot and smaller amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Creamy in cassis and vanilla, it exudes brooding blueberry flavors that wrap around sage, leather and cigar, the tannins burly and thick.
Heitz Cellars, Napa Valley, CA '17
This Napa Valley can age for decades, it is intended to be enjoyed today at Hillside Tavern! The palate expresses beautiful aromas of blackberry contrasted perfectly with spiced notes of nutmeg. Luscious weight and texture on this wine, but also racy edge of well-balanced acidity on the palate. A powerful, yet elegant wine. A true expression of the Heitz wine making philosophy.
Jordan, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, CA '17
Aromas of black cherries wrapped in a spice box of nutmeg, clove, and allspice jump from the glass. The palate is filled with flavors of black currants and plum that lead seamlessly to silky tannins and black cherry notes. Blackberry, Mission fig and black cherry notes linger on the finish. The combination of elegance and intensity make it a fitting vintage to celebrate 40 years of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon.
Pied à Terre, Sonoma County CA '16
Pied à Terre (meaning “foot to earth”) embraces the philosophy that “the farmer’s footprint is the best fertilizer” ie. that attention to detail and meticulous care in the vineyard provide the most important foundation for making great wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a small selection of notable Sonoma vineyards: Aunt Cathy’s, Nimble, and the Grable vineyards. Tasting Notes: Aromas of blueberry, black cherry, vanilla, and pencil shavings with a rich, sweet mouthfeel and incredible length. A perfect complement to hearty meat dishes.
Carignane, Birichino Montague Vineyard Old Vine, Lodi, CA '21
This easy slurping red is the product of old vine Carignane vilified via carbonic maceration, a method most famously employed to produce the famous Beaujolais Nouveau. Light and refreshing with pleasant fruit on both the nose and palate. Yes, please!
Domaine de Mourchon Tradition Séguret France '19
Grape Varieties: 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Carignan. Age of Vines: 40 years. A deep garnet red color with well-blended fruit aromas of raspberry and blackberry and a hint of liquorice on a spicy background. The palate is both velvety and generous with supple fruit.
Domaine la Bouissiere, Gigondas, '17
Domaine la Bouïssiere without question is the original, high-altitude Gigondas. Aromas of black fruits, pink and white peppers; flavors of blackberries and blue plums. Unctuous texture with silky tannins.
Paul Hobbs 'Bramere' Mendoza Argentina '18
94 points James Suckling: Incredibly floral and aromatic with crushed raspberries and violets. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a beautiful finish. This is really vivid and clear on the palate.
Anthill Farms, Sonoma Coast, California '19
A brilliant ruby color. Lifted and inviting aromas of cherry, dried roses, cardamom and tea leaf, with dark cherry that transfers to the palate. Mid-weight textural wine with tons of energy and length - fresh and drinkable.
Cobb Vineyards, 'Jack Hill Vineyard', Sonoma Coast, CA '16
From a cold, steep site located near the Pacific Ocean, Jack Hill is fleshy, spicy and integrated, brimming promisingly with a wealth of dark cherry, strawberry and blood orange. A tease of cola and cardamom give it a powerful middle of nuanced richness around a body of firm integrated tannin.
Flowers, Sonoma Coast, CA '19
Red currents, earthy forest floor, bergamot and sea breeze. A balanced wine with persistent mid palate that is laced with acidity and tart cherry, finishing light and lifted with a twist of blood orange. Critical Acclaim 93 points James Suckling "Aromas of ripe strawberries, red cherries and colored flowers. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, well-integrated tannins. Fresh acidity and bright, juicy fruit on the palate. Well balanced."
Merry Edwards, Russian River Valley, California '19
On the nose, aromas of red cherries, ripe raspberries, brambleberries and blueberries mingle with violets. Toasted brioche and sweet tea tease you to take a sip. Offering immediate palate appeal, the wine displays a beautiful balance of bright acidity and well-integrated tannins supported by a touch of warm French oak. Velvety and ripe with a lingering finish, all indications point to a long life ahead. 95 points Wine Enthusiast.
Patton Valley Vineyard, Willamette Valley, Oregon '17
A bit of classic Oregon Pinot noir potpourri here with a nose of classic Rainier cherry, cola nut, fresh Summer berries, cocoa powder and a dash of savory spice. The palate is expressive and lively, with fresh fruits like boysenberry and raspberry, pipe tobacco, fines herbs, and a strain of tannin woven throughout that dashes and dances. Deceptive in its heft, this lingers and lolls on the palate gracefully.
Patz & Hall, Sonoma Coast, California '17
92 Points Wine & Spirits: James Hall blends this wine from 18 vineyards, mostly in the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. He lets the fermentation start slowly, with ambient yeasts, then finishes it with cultured yeasts, aging the wine in French oak barrels (45 percent new) and bottling it unfiltered. The wine is beefy and youthfully tannic, even as the color is transparent in the glass. Behind the tannins, there’s a tight, cool and saline pinot with plush black-cherry flavors.
Peay, Sonoma Coast, California '17
93 Points Robert Parker: The 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from 100% estate fruit this vintage. Pale to medium ruby-purple, the nose is broody with iron, iodine, forest floor and blood orange with cranberry and blackberry fruit. Light to medium-bodied, it's ultra silky and a maintains a nice balance of ripe fruit, bitters and earth, with classic tea leaf and citrus peel flavors and a long, juicy, uplifted finish.
Teutonic Wine Co., "Bergspitze", Laurel Vyd. Chehalem Mtns, Oregon '20
The fruit is grown on the top of Bald Peak in the Chehalem Mountains at 1250 feet elevation, hence we call this wine "Bergspitze" which means mountain top in German. 100% Alsatian Coury clones brought back in a suitcase by Charles Coury and planted in Oregon in 1965. The 2018 vintage delivers the typical characteristics of this vineyard, lighter colored but deep in aromatics of bright fruit notes of cherry and white raspberry with a slight dusting of chalkiness. The finish is long and keeps your palate reminded of what you just sipped until the next taste. This wine is light enough to pair with seafood and can hold up to pork and beef.
Montenidoli Chianti Colli Senesi Il Garrulo Italy '19
Montenidoli, the mountain of the little nests: 24 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 200 hectares of woodlands. The Etruscans were the first to discover this treasure and plant vines, then came the Romans and the Knights Templar. The Montenidoli winery arrived in 1965, heirs to a long farming tradition. Sergio was a teacher, whereas Elisabetta had the land in her blood; her family had cultivated vines and olive trees in Custozza, not far from Verona, since the 1700s, and, as a child, she had spent a lot of time wandering the vineyards of Valpolicella. Following family traditions, Elisabetta and Sergio respect the land, cultivating it with exclusively organic methods. The vineyards multiplied, planted with indigenous varietals: Sangiovese blend with Vernaccia, san Gimignano's historic white grape, ,Canaiolo, Trebbiano Gentile, and Malvasia Bianca -- The traditional grapes of Chianti. The first wine was born in a great vintage - 1971.
Syrah/Shiraz & Blends
Jonata, Todos, Ballard Canyon, California '15
94 Points Decanter: In the words of Jonata Winemaker Matt Dees, the rough recipe for the “Todos” blend is “~50% Syrah, ~30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and ~20% chaos.” A blend of both red and white varietals from the Rhône, Bordeaux and Italy, this avant-garde blend manages to successfully express the expansiveness of the property from which it comes. The nose is massive and dark, containing aromas of bramble, mesquite and burning embers. The palate is laden with roasted black and blue fruits, glued together by tree sap and black pepper. A truly unique powerhouse of a wine.
Manousakis Winery Nostos Alexandria Crete Greece '18
A beautiful Rhône blend that hails from Crete. 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre. Without a doubt one of our favorite family-owned Greek wineries. Fruity aromas that are simultaneously dense and fresh. Aromas include strawberry, black cherry, mulberry, some notes of tobacco and spices. Full and dry mouth with smooth tannins and again, fresh fruit. It has a long and clean finish that accentuates the spices present.
Y. Rousseau, Mendocino, CA '17
The winemaker, Yannick Rousseau, is a favorite of ours and we have done several wine dinners with him at Rapscallion. Amazing guy, and maker of the best Tannat wines in California! Generous, bright, robust, complex, and well-structured. On the nose, ripe blueberries and violet flower along with additional savory notes of black olives and cured meats. The palate is voluptuous, fresh, juicy with silky tannins, and a long finish. This is a GREAT WINE TO PAIR WITH BURGERS!
Zinfandel & Blends
Bedrock Winery Old Vine Zinfandel '20
Winemaker Notes: The largest single component comes from the old vines at Bedrock Vineyard, followed by the perfumed goodness of Esola Vineyard, the softer but fresh Schmiedt Vineyard, and the peppery, dark-fruited Nervo Ranch Vineyard. As usual, almost all of the wine consists of declassified barrels from vineyard-designated wines, so it offers serious bang for the buck. 85% Zinfandel with the balance a blend of Carignan, Mataro, Grenache, and Alicante Bouschet, along with esoteric creatures like Aubun, Abouriou, and many more. Critical Acclaim: A briar patch of a wine, with zesty wild berry, underbrush and licorice flavors that finish with medium-grained tannins. 90 points Wine Spectator
Marietta 'Old Vines' Lot Number 69, California
Introduced in 1982, Marietta utilizes old vine fruit in a multi-vintage blend to make a wine of substance and value. Lot #69 combines the 2015, 2016, and 2017 vintage. This is a classic old-fashioned California table red. This is a Zinfandel-based red with Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Barbera, and Carignan.
