Domaine Drouhin Pouilly-Vinzelles '16
Brooks, Bradley, and Nate had the great life fortune to visit Domaine Drouhin in Beaune, Burgundy a few years back, and this is the exact wine Véronique Drouhin served us at lunch! What memories, and what a value-driven French Chardonnay!
Domaine Guy Robin et Fils, Vieilles Vignes Chablis, France '16
4th generation family owned winery. Domaine Guy Robin claims the second most premier and grand cru vineyard land. Sustainable farming that avoids chemical treatments and following organic practices as much as weather conditions permit. This wine is crisp, ripe, and delicious.
Liquid Farms 'Golden Slope' Santa Rita Hills '16
94 points Vinous The 2016 Chardonnay Golden Slope shows the more potent, rich side of the Sta. Rita Hills. Candied orange peel, mint, hazelnut, vanilla and tropical overtones give the wine breadth. The Golden Slope is the most overt and voluptuous of the Liquid Farm Chardonnays.
Rombauer Vineyards, Carneros, California '18
Pale yellow with a green tinge to the hue. Aromas of yellow peach, mango with a slight citrus note intertwine with vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and round with cream texture, vanilla, and butter combine seamlessly. Critical Acclaim: 90 points Wilfred Wong, 90 points James Suckling.
Sonoma Coast '17
Jordan Russian River Valley '18
A nice balance of delicacy and deliciousness. Inviting aromas of honeysuckle and lemon peel lead to bright flavors of stone fruits and citrus. The palate is elegant yet succulent, with layers of oak-laced lemon, pears, quince, and white peach - all supported by uplifting acidity. Critical acclaim - 93 points Wilfred Wong and 90 points Wine Enthusiast.
Laurenz 'Singing', Austria '17
An attractive fruit bouquet yields apple, peach, and citrus aromas along with a typical Veltliner spiciness and a touch of white pepper. The soft and juicy palate is supported by fine acidity.
Domaine Delaporte Sancerre '18
A longtime favorite at Boulevardier where we have carried this wine for many, many years. Pale gold with green hints. Very expressive, intense and complex nose with boxwood, rhubarb, black currant, kiwi, and a light vegetal touch (marigold). The entry is soft and round. Bright freshness on the palate, delicate and lively purity. Well-balanced and harmonious, it ends with a clean lingering finish.
Smith Story, Sonoma, California '16
This wine exudes traditional spicy aromatic characteristics of Cabernet Franc that is full of complex fruit flavors with soft tannins and freshness which begin with the aroma and then linger on the finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon & Blends
Barnett Vineyards Spring Mountain '17
Wilfred Wong of Wine.com gave it 92 Points. COMMENTARY: The 2017 Barnett Vineyards Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon offers excellent and persistent density on the palate. TASTING NOTES: This wine brings black fruit, pencil lead, and violets to the table. Pair it with Hillside Tavern's Steak Frites!!
Chappellet, Mountain Cuvée, Napa Valley '18
Blended from the traditional Bordeaux varietals, this wine builds on 5 decades of crafting great Napa County mountain-grown wines. Dark and spicy, this wine displays beautiful aromas of currant, cassis, sage and thyme, as well as hints of cinnamon and clove from barrel aging. On the palate, balanced tannins, ripe berry flavors, layers of cola and grenadine. Wine Enthusiast 90 Points: This well-made blend leads with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, adding in 33% Merlot and smaller amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Creamy in cassis and vanilla, it exudes brooding blueberry flavors that wrap around sage, leather and cigar, the tannins burly and thick.
Double Canyon Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills, Washington '16
Great depth and concentration of flavors, with a long, generous palate that opens up on the entry. Deep, dark garnet in the glass, aromas of red currant and coffee beans are joined with hints of polished leather, caramel, cassis, and pine. Moderate tannins with elegant finish. Flavors of cherries and red fruit. Critical Acclaim: 94 points Jeb Dunnuck
Frog's Leap, Rutherford, Napa Valley '18
Aromas of blackcurrant fruit, an underlying hint of earth and a dusty character that is classic Rutherford Cabernet. The palate offers bright acidity and well-integrated tannins that makes the wine very approachable. 93 points Decanter: Beaming and pure, with aromas of fragrant red fruits, fresh flowers and a pleasant hint of ash. Elegant and bright on the palate, with a finely-drawn, precise acidity. Frog's Leap has always placed itself among producers that champion precision and elegance, and the 2018 is a particularly crystalline example of this.
Jordan, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County '16
Aromas of black cherries wrapped in a spice box of nutmeg, clove, and allspice jump from the glass. The palate is filled with flavors of black currants and plum that lead seamlessly to silky tannins and black cherry notes. Blackberry, Mission fig and black cherry notes linger on the finish. The combination of elegance and intensity make it a fitting vintage to celebrate 40 years of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon.
Routestock, Napa Valley '18
Medium-dark hue emits a complex aroma of black plum, soy sauce, bright fruit, and oak. Beautifully balanced fruit, oak, acidity, and tannin creating a very smooth, bright, and savory wine of great length and complexity.
Domenico Clerico, Visaldi, Langhe, Italy '18
Red fruits pushing out of the glass with pleasant tannins and slight spice. Delicate and approachable. 90 points Robert Parker: This is such a pretty Dolcetto. I am reminded of rose gardens and lavender fields. The Domenico Clerico 2018 Langhe Dolcetto Visadì focuses on the smallest details with a macro lens. The finish is slender, soft and silky. Fruit comes from the Ginestra, Mosconi and San Pietro crus with about 10 rows planted immediately outside the appellation lines (for this reason the wine is a Langhe Dolcetto and not a Dolcetto d'Alba). Winemaking sees just four brief days of skin maceration, accounting for its delicate approach. Fruit is harvested early to keep the alcohol content low.
Paul Hobbs 'Bramere' Mendoza Argentina '18
94 points James Suckling: Incredibly floral and aromatic with crushed raspberries and violets. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a beautiful finish. This is really vivid and clear on the palate.
Au Bon Climat, Santa Barbara County '18
The Pinot Noirs of California’s Santa Barbara County may have gotten their biggest boost back in 2004 when they starred in “Sideways,” the now-classic wine road trip comedy-romance. This Jim Clendenon wine is fruit-driven followed by complex flavors of green tea, strawberry, cranberry, clove, and unsweetened dark chocolate.
Domaine d'Ardhuy 'Les Combottes' Cote de Beaune '17
Domaine d’Ardhuy is located in the very heart of Burgundy, in the Côte de Nuits, at the border of the Côte de Beaune. It is settled in the Clos des Langres, which has been known for the quality of its wines since the monks of the Abbaye de Cîteau planted the vineyards in the 10th century. The d'Ardhuy family has owned this 38.5 hectare estate for four generations. The vineyards stretch from Puligny-Montrachet to Gevrey-Chambertin, producing some 40 different wines, mainly grands crus and premier crus (Corton, Clos de Vougeot, Corton Charlemagne, ect..), among them, they have 6 Grands Crus, 15 Premiers Crus et 15 Villages. This wine is a beautifully-affordable introduction to one of the great estates of Burgundy.
The Hilt, Santa Rita Hills, CA '16
93 Points Robert Parker: The Hilt's 2016 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is excellent, wafting from the glass with an exciting bouquet of dark wild berry fruits, licorice, rich soil, rose hip and orange peel. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, bright and expansive, with velvety tannins and a crunchy core of primary fruit, its bright line of acidity carrying through to the mouthwatering finish.
Patz & Hall Sonoma Coast '17
92 Points Wine & Spirits: James Hall blends this wine from 18 vineyards, mostly in the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. He lets the fermentation start slowly, with ambient yeasts, then finishes it with cultured yeasts, aging the wine in French oak barrels (45 percent new) and bottling it unfiltered. The wine is beefy and youthfully tannic, even as the color is transparent in the glass. Behind the tannins, there’s a tight, cool and saline pinot with plush black-cherry flavors.
Pellegrini, Russian River Valley '18
Light cherry and rose petals sustained by notes of tobacco and pine in the nose, walks a fine line between the delicate and the rich and dense. On the tongue, ripe cherry, plum, and toasted almond fill the cheeks while roasted wild mushrooms flesh out the palate. Critical acclaim - 91 points Wine Enthusiast.
Peay Sonoma Coast '17
93 Points Robert Parker: The 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from 100% estate fruit this vintage. Pale to medium ruby-purple, the nose is broody with iron, iodine, forest floor and blood orange with cranberry and blackberry fruit. Light to medium-bodied, it's ultra silky and a maintains a nice balance of ripe fruit, bitters and earth, with classic tea leaf and citrus peel flavors and a long, juicy, uplifted finish.
Dundee Hills '15
Anthill Farms, Sonoma Coast, California '19
A brilliant ruby color. Lifted and inviting aromas of cherry, dried roses, cardamom and tea leaf, with dark cherry that transfers to the palate. Mid-weight textural wine with tons of energy and length - fresh and drinkable.
Domaine Michel Sarrazin et Fils Bourgogne Rouge '19
The finest wines from the Côte Chalonnaise are known for their effortless beauty, with delicate aromas, fruit-driven flavors and light, silky textures. Burgundy from Domaine Michel Sarrazin et Fils both exemplifies this elegant style and sets an even higher standard for the region. This wine comes from an exceptional hillside vineyard on pure limestone soils, terroir that would make many a Côte d’Or cru jealous. Concentrated and spicy, this is an overachieving wine and a stellar value, too.
Syrah/Shiraz & Blends
Jonata, Todos, Ballard Canyon, California '15
94 Points Decanter: In the words of Jonata Winemaker Matt Dees, the rough recipe for the “Todos” blend is “~50% Syrah, ~30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and ~20% chaos.” A blend of both red and white varietals from the Rhône, Bordeaux and Italy, this avant-garde blend manages to successfully express the expansiveness of the property from which it comes. The nose is massive and dark, containing aromas of bramble, mesquite and burning embers. The palate is laden with roasted black and blue fruits, glued together by tree sap and black pepper. A truly unique powerhouse of a wine.
Two Hands, 'Gnarly Dudes' Barossa Valley Australia '17
Deep red with a dark crimson core, this wine offers aromas of black cherry, with notes of wood smoke, lavender, fresh leather, vanilla bean & black peppercorn. Medium to full bodied, with lots of bright, black fruit. Notes of dried tobacco and dried herb. The tannins build through the mid palate and frame the wine nicely. Rolls through the palate as only a Barossa Shiraz can expanding to every nook and cranny of your mouth, creating a lovely density. The notes of black pepper, coal dust and dried lavender, give excellent appeal carrying it to the finish. Critical Acclaim: 90 Points Wine Spectator.
Marques de Cáceres Crianza Rioja '16
91 Points James Suckling: A fruity and delicious red with blackberry and cherry character. Medium body. Firm tannins.
Y. Rousseau, Mendocino, CA '17
The winemaker, Yannick Rousseau, is a favorite of ours and we have done several wine dinners with him at Rapscallion. Amazing guy, and maker of the best Tannat wines in California! Generous, bright, robust, complex, and well-structured. On the nose, ripe blueberries and violet flower along with additional savory notes of black olives and cured meats. The palate is voluptuous, fresh, juicy with silky tannins, and a long finish. This is a GREAT WINE TO PAIR WITH BURGERS!
Zinfandel & Blends
Marietta 'Old Vines' Lot Number 69, California
Introduced in 1982, Marietta utilizes old vine fruit in a multi-vintage blend to make a wine of substance and value. Lot #69 combines the 2015, 2016, and 2017 vintage. This is a classic old-fashioned California table red. This is a Zinfandel-based red with Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Barbera, and Carignan.
Turley, 'Juvenile' California '16
Though the vast majority of Turley's wines are single vineyard designates, Juvenile is actually composed of a variety of young vines that have been replanted in several of their old vine sites. They tag the vine when it is replanted so as not to mix the brand new vine with its much older neighbors, then pick these young vines separately and make a distinct wine. The vines that make up Juvenile range in age from about 6-25 years, and Turley pulls from 18 of their best vineyards across California, including Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, Vineyard 101, Fredericks and Kirschenmann. 90 Points Wine Spectator: Loaded with pepper and smoky sweet anise flavors. The raspberry flavors take on tannins toward the finish. Best after 2019.
Champagne & Sparkling
Chateau de Bligny Grand Reserve Brut
100% estate produced. A deep golden robe underlined by a line of fine sparkling bubbles. A substantial, flowery (violet) nose, notes of white fruit, very ripe pear, creamy, slightly woody, mushrooms. A fine, dense structure, white fruit (peach, nectarine), gingerbread. An ample mouth and a wonderful length. 50% Chardonnay / 50% Pinot Noir. Critical Acclaim: Wine Spectator 90 points.
Drappier Carte d'Or Brut Urville France
92 Points Wine Spectator: This bright and zesty Champagne is lightly juicy and appealing, offering flavors of Honeycrisp apple, ripe white cherry, biscuit and pickled ginger. Balanced and lacy in texture, with a lingering, spiced finish. From the winemaker: The Carte d'Or cuvée is the very expression of the Drappier style. With its very high proportion of Pinot Noir, one is almost tasting a Blanc de Noirs. Champagne with a fine aromatic richness, it opens with aromas of stoned fruits such as white vineyard peach. A spicy hint announces a powerful complex palate. A vinous Champagne of lovely complexity with a characteristic note of quince jelly.
Piper-Heidsieck Brut Rosé 'Sauvage' NV
93 Points Tasting Table: The darkest wine of the tasting; lush raspberry and cherry nose; bright, juicy and fresh with ripe fruit and lovely acid structure; long and vibrant. 55%-60% Pinot Noir, 20%-25% Pinot Meunier, 10%-15% Chardonnay. From the winemaker: Rose Sauvage, meaning Wild Rose in French, is not your typical Champagne Rose. A high proportion of Pinot Noir results in a bold, deep-hued rosé and a palate that is structured, full-bodied, and yet distinctly elegant. This unique, fruity Champagne, carefully crafted from over 100 crus, is guaranteed to delight all the senses.
Roederer Estate Brut NV Anderson Valley California
#27 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2018 Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor. The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California's premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.
Santa Lucia Highlands '18
Gerard Bertrand, Gris Blanc '20
Pale pink color. The bouquet reveals delightful red berry scents. A slightly sparkle on the palate gives the wine all its freshness and brings out the full fruit. Elegant and mineral notes. Made with Grenache.
Mirabeau en Provence, Côtes de Provence, France '20
A luminous pink color with lavish aromas, expressive red summer fruit remains the essence of this best selling rosé. Raspberry, strawberry, and redcurrant flavors take center stage, all balanced with refreshing acidity. Critical Acclaim: 90 points Decanter
Domaine Paul Blanck, Alsace France '18
In April of 2011, Bradley and Brooks spent a week with Philippe Blanck in Alsace, and we received an amazing education in the wines of this under-appreciated region. Gorgeous in every way. This wine is fresh, dry, and thirst-quenching with notes of lemon, flowers, peaches, limestone and apricot pits, and hints of grapefruit skins and minerals on the finish.
Cantina Kurtatsch, Sudtirol, Alto Adige Italy '19
This is a unique white infused with Alpine freshness and lift that Alto Adige wines are best known for. A cross of the red grape Schiava and Riesling, Kerner offers a delicious floral perfume, redolent of lilac and honeysuckle, with peachy fruit and a kiss of white pepper at the finish.

A wine of acidity and depth with a stony, mineral-driven personality. White stone fruits, slate, crushed rocks and flowers meld into the tense finish.
Pinot Gris, Elk Cove Willamette Valley '20
Hand-harvested from hillside vineyards in the northern Willamete Valley. Pinot Gris has long been a focus at Elk Cove – the Estate Vineyard boasts some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in Oregon, dating back to 1985. Fresh and aromatic. The perfect antidote to a Texas summer day.
Chardonnay, Cuvaison Napa Valley '17
A year of warmth and opulence, the 2017 Estate Chardonnay offers aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, vanilla, and clove spice. The honeyed aromatics give way to unctuous fruit tones of pear and peach, with lemony brightness that carries along the rich spice and toasty brioche notes. This is a rich, plush and pleasing Chardonnay balanced beautifully by oak and refreshing fruit tones. Critical Acclaim - 91 points James Suckling.
Sauvignon Blanc, Andre Dezat et Fils Sancerre, Loire France '19
Pale yellow in color with hints of green with aromas of key lime and white flowers. Clean and bright on the palate with lovely acidity.
Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Mauzac, and Muscat Blend, Gérard Bertrand Orange Gold
Orange Gold pays tribute to the first orange wine of Georgia from 4,500 years ago.
